Fenomena Munculnya Militan Buddhis di Myanmar dan Sri Lanka

چکیده

Selama lebih dari 2500 tahun, agama Buddha dikenal sebagai tanpa kekerasan. Namun fenomena di era modern, Myanmar dan Sri Lanka muncul gerakan nasionalisme yang menonjolkan identitas perbedaan etnis (etno-religious). Gerakan itu telah meningkatkan konflik mengakibatkan diskriminasi tindakan kekerasan terhadap minoritas. Dalam artikel ini dibahas mengenai munculnya militan Buddhis Lanka. Metode digunakan dalam kajian adalah library research dengan mendeskripsikan medalam juga disertai analisis kritis. Data dikumpulkan berbagai sumber. Hasil menyimpulkan bahwa dipelopori oleh bhikkhu berhaluan keras, tidak mencerminkan sikap kelompok mayoritas namun memiliki pengaruh sebagian umat Buddha. bernuansa etno-religious menyebarkan hasutan anti lain, terutama Islam (Islamofobia), dianggap ancaman eksistensi mayoritas, Buddha, negara melindungi Dampaknya terjadi menimbulkan diskriminasi, persekusi, berkembang bukanlah murni jelas bermotif ekonomi politik menggunakan isu legitimasi gerakan. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat latar belakang sejarah pada masa lalu pelopor pernah dihukum karena menghasut untuk memboikot bisnis muslim negaranya. Agama dijadikan instrumen mencapai tujuan kepentingan kelompok. dampaknya kontraproduktif: bukannya akan menjaga tetapi sebaliknya yaitu menurunkan citra mengajarkan
